Brim Fell
Brim Fell is one of the Coniston range of fells. It forms the central part of the broad grassy ridge running north from Coniston Old Man to the dip at Levers Hawse. Until 1974 the whole range was inside Lancashire with the Old Man being the county top - at that time the government saw fit to re-jig the old counties, take this whole range away from Lancashire and give it to the newly formed Cumbria.

The summit of Brim Fell appears little more than a gentle grassy swell on the Coniston central ridge. Being in close proximity though it shares many of the characteristics of its neighbour, the Old Man. To the west it has relatively easy grassy slopes, with the significantly more interesting aspect being from the east, where it is steep and craggy. Much of this landscape has been heavily scarred through extensive copper and slate mining over hundreds of years.

In Wainwright height rankings, Brim Fell comes in as a respectable 10th highest of the Southern Fells, and 36th highest overall.
