Bowfell
A favourite amongst walkers, Bowfell is one of the finest fells in the Lakes. Rising majestically from The Band, which emanates from Langdale, Bowfell has something for everybody - a fantastic rough pyramid shaped summit of rocks and boulders, smooth grassy slopes, and steep forbidding crags on several flanks. Bowfell is also home to the geological oddity of the Great Slab - a large flat stone slab sloping towards Flat Crags.

With the Scafell range and Esk Pike, Bowfell forms a rough horseshoe around the head of Eskdale. The view of the Scafells from the top is stunning.

Wainwright height rankings - Southern Fells 4th highest, overall 6th. Also one of Wainwright's top six favourites.
