Walking Log ... Walks including "Lingmell"

Starting from the top end of Wast Water, Lingmell rises majestically in a continuous smooth slope for over 2000 feet, giving a slightly conical appearance from the south and west. In marked contrast though from the north and east the ground falls away sharply from the summit as an array of vast crags and scree slopes.

Possibly too close to fully appreciate the nearby Scafell range, the best views are to the west over Wasdale Head and north towards Kirk Fell and Great Gable.

In the Wainwright height rankings, Lingmell comes in as 7th highest of the Southern Fells, and 29th highest overall.
