Walking Log ... Walks including "Armboth Fell"

Armboth Fell
Soggy mound sitting just off the main ridge of fells running north from Ullscarf. As with all the fells along this ridge it is an excellent viewpoint, especially of the Eastern fells. Armboth has impressive crags hanging over the western banks of Thirlmere, and an interesting undulating summit of rocky outcrops.

Wainwright was horribly uncomplimentary about this fell (along with others along the ridge running north) - this whole area acts like a sponge, holding moisture in, and hence can get very boggy at times.

In Wainwright height rankings, Armboth fell comes in at a modest 18th highest of the Central Fells, and 182nd overall.
