Walking Log ... Walks including "Scales Tarn"

Scales Tarn
Small corrie tarn lying high up on the Blencathra massif, approximately two kilometres north of the A66 between Keswick and Penrith. A popular stop off point for walkers attempting Sharp Edge, it is most easily reached from the path leading up from Scales Farm.

It is bounded on three sides by Scales Fell to the south, Tarn Crags to the west and the imposing Sharp Edge to the north. Its main outflow is Scales Beck, which runs into the grandly named River Glenderamackin.
