Walking Log ... Walks including "Grisedale Tarn"

Grisedale Tarn
A large beautiful tarn, located on a high shelf at the head of the Raise Beck gulley rising from Dunmail Raise and the confluence of the Grisedale and Great Tongue valleys.

Grisedale Tarn really is set in stunning scenery. It is hemmed in between Seat Sandal, Dollywagon Pike and Fairfield, all rising quite steeply and majestically from its shores, and the northern flank of St. Sunday Crag stretching away to the north east.

Its main outflow is Grisedale Beck on the eastern side, which runs all the way down to Patterdale. A short way down from the outflow is the Brothers Parting Stone, where William Wordsworth last saw his brother John.
