Mick's Walk Summary/Comments:
I had earmarked this walk as a family affair due to it's relative shortness and not much climbing. The reason for this is because I have a teenage son who thinks that it's a chore just getting out of bed in the morning, never mind climbing a mountain. After much sulking and gnashing of teeth, we set off in full sun making sure that we had sun hats and sun cream!

As soon as the walk started the chaps were fine. I think that this was partly due to the fact that I'd promised them that we wouldn't have much climbing to do. I was expecting not to see too many people and also the route to be fairly pathless once we got off the bridleway, but we saw about 8 other walkers and the path was actually quite distinct. I think that the reason for this is because the views from the summit are brilliant....in all directions.

There were great views of the lakes, the Howgills, Eden valley, the three Peaks and good old Pendle in the distance. We had talked about having lunch off the summit in some shelter, however we found a shelter seat next to the trig and with the views being so good we hung around for a good half an hour eating our sandwiches.

The rest of the walk was very straight forward as we circumnavigated the hill, but the views even off the summit were still magnificent. We had a few flurries of snow during the last mile or so, but luckily we had come prepared so we just applied extra layers of sun cream

All in all, a short walk but in my opinion, quite spectacular (and my son didn't trip over his lip once!!)
